Hello,
we use LibreOffice on an Ubuntu server to output PDF's for a
campus-management-system on our university. HISinOne is a rather common
software in Germany for universities to manage their students and staff. Its a
web-based, integrated campus management system that maps the entire student
lifecycle, including admissions, examination management, and student
statistics. Within the system, ODT templates are used and function as layouts
featuring specific placeholders, allowing the system to automatically generate
personalized official letters, admission notifications, and study certificates
using central database records.
The HISinOne servers are running Ubuntu 22.04.5 LTS (GNU/Linux
5.15.0-143-generic x86_64) & LibreOffice 7.3.7.2 30(Build:2). They are due for
an update at the end of the year, but they have been running since 2022 in this
configuration.
Our staff was using different images with different LibreOffice versions at
first. To rule this out as the culprit we updated all of them to the same
version 26.2.2.
The issue:
Documents containing a table are missing all texts and images - only display an
empty table. The table seems to be in the right place where it should be, but
text before and after is replaced by empty lines.
The issue started to come up after a larger hotfix to the HISinOne software at
the start of 2026 and has been hard to pinpoint because the same not working
document does work on different clients and even on the same client that
couldnt display the document it may display the content after a system restart.
We could find no correlation between running time of the server or client.
Generating a PDF instead always works, but sometimes content needs to be
slightly modified, gets generated as ODT and then breaks as described.
Please list any other speccs or testcase documents you might need and I will
try to provide them here.
