            Bug ID: 172662
Summary: Make it Easier to Add Footnotes and Work With Them
           Product: LibreOffice
           Version: 26.2.3.2 release
          Hardware: x86 (IA32)
                OS: Windows (All)
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: enhancement
          Priority: medium
         Component: Writer
          Assignee: [email protected]
          Reporter: [email protected]

Description:
It could be easier for users to add footnotes or endnotes.

Steps to Reproduce:
Try to add footnotes in LibreOffice Writer.

Actual Results:
In order to add footnotes, users can either

(a) Select "Insert," scroll down to "Footnote and Endnote," and sroll over to
"Footnote," or

(b) hit Alt+i+t+t+f, or

(c) use the toolbar.

I have to do this over, and over, and over again. Why does it require
sub-menus, or fancy 5-key combos, or the toolbar, or user customization which
might conflict with existing shortcuts?

Expected Results:
I don't think frequently-needed functions should require sub-menus or more than
2-key combos.

(a) I think "Footnote" and "Endnote" should have separate entries under
"Insert."

(b) I dont know what to do about keyboard shortcuts; I'm currently using
Windows, so most shortcuts rely on function keys which don't work, some are
much more awkward, and some are unpredictable.

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

Additional Info:
It's also easy to accidentally hit the footnote anchors when trying to edit
text.
