Bug ID: 172689
Summary: Online Guides Use Bouncing Tiles and Multiple Columns
and Lack Links to Offline Guides
Product: LibreOffice
Version: unspecified
Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: medium
Component: Documentation
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
CC: [email protected]
Description:
In my experience, the online guides at https://books.libreoffice.org/ are hard
to read, though some downloadable offline guides are easier to read.
Searches for specific LibreOffice problems often lead to the online guides, and
discussions often link to the online guides, but these don't show any options
to download the downloadable offline guides.
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Configure basic accessibility settings like prefers-reduced-motion in your
browser.
2. Visit the nav page for the Writer Guide at
https://books.libreoffice.org/en/WG262/WG262.html
3. Mouse across the page.
6. Visit specific pages such as
https://books.libreoffice.org/en/WG75/WG7520-CustomizingWriter.html#toc2
Actual Results:
4. Tiles bounce about on mouseover, causing motion sickness, despite
prefers-reduced-motion.
7. Very little of the text is visible, there are multiple columns, and each
column scrolls separately from the others, so scrolling causes motion sickness;
if you have nav keys page down *is* a workaround.
8. If you page down, some images can flash and resize as they jump under the
mouse cursor, which can be painful and disorienting, and can mean parts of the
image don't appear.
Expected Results:
5. Tiles shouldn't bounce like that.
Now back up to 6. above.
9. Columns shouldn't scroll like that; I know it's standard web design, that
doesn't mean it's accessible and isn't a migraine trigger.
10. Images should resize without a click or other user command.
Reproducible: Always
User Profile Reset: No
Additional Info:
Using Firefox 152.4.
