Bug ID: 172775
Summary: Unable to edit PDF Forms.
Product: LibreOffice
Version: unspecified
Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: medium
Component: LibreOffice
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
The UK tax authorities require their taxpayers to complete downloaded PDF forms
for income tax and inheritance tax. These are PDFs with extensive forms data
entry fields. These include the full range of what is possible with PDF forms.
Importantly, they have verification, rounding of values, accumulating values,
and calculation logic.
This all worked well with Adobe Acrobat but as we approach a new era of no
Windows and Adobe long since abandoned Linux, it would be nice to have a
replacement that is simple to use. Every software product I have tried is an
editor and will not run any associated logic for a field.
It must be READ ONLY, no editing of the PDF at all. It must run any associated
code a data entry field has. The receiver will need to rely on the form not
being modified. As UK tax authorities do not allow the document to be saved,
printing the PDF is required.
I have tried Evince / Paper - does not allow data entry into a form field.
LibreOffice expects PDF to be
immediately altered as it opens them in Draw. I have tried to convert to a Word
Document format but the required options do not show up in the "Save As" window
and I cannot change them if the settings options. Firefox will allow data entry
but messes up display of calculated values. Running Acrobat as a snap will not
print on Fedora despite following instructions.
I really do not want to go back to Windows.
