            Bug ID: 172975
Summary: Request to be able to lock formatting of cells after
                    drag and drop
           Product: LibreOffice
           Version: unspecified
          Hardware: All
                OS: All
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: medium
         Component: Calc
          Assignee: [email protected]
          Reporter: [email protected]

I have a home accounting spreadsheet with columns for formatted date (e.g.
1-Jan, 22-May etc.), currency (e.g. £1,234.56 etc.) and description as text.
There is a column description row above each column and a total row below each
column.
As time goes on, I add and remove entries (financial transactions).
To tidy up, I select any entries detached from the data nearest the top and
move it up so that there is no gap.

This works fine in MS Excel 2007 with WINE, but resets the format of the cells
that I have moved data away from in LibreOffice.
So, the next time I enter date the format isn't what I want, the currency is
now just a number and the font size is the default.

Googling this has revealed that this is by design which is fair enough.
But, an option to override this default behaviour would make LibreOffice a
viable soloution for me and others (I see that I am not the first person to ask
about this). I would ideally ditch MS Office if I could.

Happy to elaborate further if necessary.
