Bug ID: 173020
Summary: The translation for "light" in the sense of font
weight is used for "light" in the sense of bright
theme at least in Finnish
Product: LibreOffice
Version: 25.2.3.2 release
Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: medium
Component: Localization
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
Description:
In the English (I checked En-GB) version of Libre Office, the theme options in
Tools > Options... > Appearance read "System", "Light" and "Dark". The Finnish
translation reads "Järjestelmän", "Laiha", "Tumma". The problem is that "light"
is homonymous in English and can refer to either weight or brightness. Laiha
means slim and is probably a reasonable translation in the context of font
weights, but not in the brightness of a theme. It would seem that the French
version is reasonable ("Système", "Claire", "Sombre"), so it doesn't look like
a problem of string reuse. I am not familiar with the Weblate and couldn't find
the string myself, but the correct translation in the theme brightness context
("Vaalea") is probably uncontroversial.
Steps to Reproduce:
Set libreoffice's language to Finnish and go check Työkalut > Asetukset... >
Ulkoasu.
Actual Results:
The theme options read "Järjestelmän", "Laiha", "Tumma".
Expected Results:
The theme options should read "Järjestelmän", "Vaalea", "Tumma".
Reproducible: Always
User Profile Reset: No
