Bug ID: 173032
Summary: Export chart to svgz result in file content identical
to regular uncompressed svg
Product: LibreOffice
Version: 26.2.5.2 release
Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: enhancement
Priority: medium
Component: Calc
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
This is also seen observed in an earlier version:
Version: 25.2.7.2 (x86) / LibreOffice Community
Build ID: 5cbfd1ab6520636bb5f7b99185aa69bd7456825d
CPU threads: 16; OS: Windows 11 X86_64 (10.0 build 26200); UI render:
Skia/Raster; VCL: win
Locale: nb-NO (nb_NO); UI: en-US
Calc: CL threaded
Steps to reproduce:
* Open Libre Office Calc
* Open a ready-made file or create any file that contains a chart
* Right click the chart, export to (regular) .svg format.
* repeat for the same chart, but now select .svgz instead.
* Observe the two files just exported
Excepted result:
- The exported .svgz file should take much less space compared to the regular
svg file.
- The file content of the exported .svgz file should be compressed and binary
format. normally this make it unreadable in a text editor.
Actual result:
- The file size of the two exported files are near identical.
- The content of the exported .svgz file can be opened in any text editor, and
show the same content as the .svg file (only minor flags, ie a few characters
make up for minor internal differences between those files).
Workaround: open the exported .svg file in Inkscape and then save as proper
.svgz.
