## Automatic spell checking stops working after printing in Writer 26.2.4.2
### Environment
* **OS:** Ubuntu 26.04 LTS
* **Codename:** resolute
* **Architecture:** amd64
* **LibreOffice:** 26.2.4.2
* **Build:** 620(Build:2)
* **Component:** Writer
### Description
Automatic spell checking works correctly in LibreOffice Writer before printing.
Misspelled words are displayed with the expected red wavy underline.
However, after executing an actual **Print** command, automatic spell-check
highlighting stops working.
The **Tools → Automatic Spell Checking** option remains enabled, but newly
typed misspelled words are no longer displayed with a red wavy underline.
Closing and reopening Writer restores automatic spell checking.
### Steps to reproduce
1. Open LibreOffice Writer.
2. Create a new Writer document.
3. Type a deliberately misspelled word, for example:
`qwertyxyzabc`
4. Confirm that the word is displayed with a red wavy underline.
5. Execute **Ctrl+P** / **File → Print**.
6. Print the document.
7. Return to the same Writer document without closing it.
8. Type another deliberately misspelled word:
`qwertyxyzabc`
9. The newly typed word is no longer displayed with a red wavy underline.
10. Check **Tools → Automatic Spell Checking**. It remains enabled.
11. Toggle Automatic Spell Checking OFF and ON.
12. The red underline still does not return.
13. Close Writer and reopen the document.
14. Automatic spell checking works normally again.
### Additional testing
The issue was tested using several different operations:
**Print Preview**
`File → Print Preview`
Result: Spell checking continues to work.
**Export as PDF**
`File → Export as PDF`
Result: Spell checking continues to work.
**Actual physical printer**
`Ctrl+P → Physical Printer`
Result: Spell checking stops.
**Print to File**
`Ctrl+P → Print to File → PDF`
Result: Spell checking stops.
### Safe Mode test
LibreOffice was also started using:
`libreoffice --safe-mode`
The same test was performed using the temporary Safe Mode profile.
Result: Spell checking still stops after:
`Ctrl+P → Print to File → PDF`
Therefore, the problem is reproducible even with a temporary LibreOffice
profile and does not appear to be caused by the normal user configuration.
### Expected behaviour
Printing a document should not disable or interrupt automatic spell checking in
the Writer document that remains open.
### Actual behaviour
After an actual print operation:
* Automatic Spell Checking remains enabled.
* Existing and newly typed misspelled words are no longer underlined.
* Turning Automatic Spell Checking OFF and ON does not restore it.
* Restarting Writer restores spell checking.
### Important observation
The problem also occurs with **Print to File → PDF**, while **Export as PDF**
does not cause the problem.
This suggests that the issue is associated specifically with the Writer
**printing process**, rather than PDF generation in general or a particular
physical printer/driver.
### Reproducibility
The problem is consistently reproducible on the affected system.
I can provide screenshots showing the document before printing and immediately
after printing, as well as additional diagnostic information or a sample
document if required.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Start LibreOffice Writer.
2. Create a new blank Writer document.
3. Ensure **Tools → Automatic Spell Checking** is enabled.
4. Type the deliberately misspelled word `qwertyxyzabc`.
5. Confirm that `qwertyxyzabc` is displayed with a red wavy underline.
6. Execute **Ctrl+P** to open the Print dialog.
7. Select **Print to File** and output to PDF.
8. Complete the print operation and return to the Writer document without
closing Writer.
9. Type another deliberately misspelled word, for example `qwertyxyzabc`.
10. Observe that the newly typed misspelled word is no longer displayed with a
red wavy underline.
11. Open **Tools → Automatic Spell Checking** and verify that the option is
still enabled.
12. Toggle Automatic Spell Checking OFF and then ON again.
13. Type another deliberately misspelled word.
14. Observe that the red wavy underline still does not return.
15. Close Writer completely and reopen the document.
16. Type another deliberately misspelled word.
17. Observe that automatic spell checking works normally again.
Actual Results:
After completing an actual print operation using **Ctrl+P → Print to File →
PDF**, automatic spell-check highlighting stops working in the Writer document
that remains open.
Newly typed misspelled words are no longer displayed with the red wavy
underline.
The **Tools → Automatic Spell Checking** option remains enabled.
Turning Automatic Spell Checking OFF and ON again does not restore the red
underlines.
Closing and reopening Writer restores automatic spell checking.
The problem also occurs when printing to a physical printer.
The problem does not occur with **Print Preview** or **File → Export as PDF**.
Expected Results:
After printing a Writer document, automatic spell checking should continue to
work normally in the document that remains open.
Misspelled words typed after printing should continue to be detected and
displayed with the red wavy underline while **Tools → Automatic Spell
Checking** is enabled.
Printing should not disable, interrupt, or otherwise affect the automatic
spell-checking functionality of the active Writer document.

### Recovery
Closing and restarting LibreOffice Writer immediately restores automatic spell
checking.
### Important distinction
The problem occurs with the **Print** operation, including **Print to File**,
but does not occur with:
* Print Preview
* Export as PDF
This suggests that the issue is specifically associated with the Writer
printing operation rather than PDF export in general or a particular physical
printer.
### Workaround
At present, the only reliable workaround I have found is to close and reopen
Writer after performing a print operation.
I can provide screenshots showing the document before and after printing and
can provide additional diagnostic information if required.
