Bug ID: 173095
Summary: Saving file corrupts paragraph style outline level
setting if parent style's outline level is implicitly
set via Tools -> Heading Numbering
Product: LibreOffice
Version: 26.2.4.2 release
Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: medium
Component: Writer
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
Steps to reproduce:
1. Create a new Writer document.
2. Create a new paragraph style that inherits from one of the Heading styles
(for example, Heading 1). Do not set any properties of that style.
3. Set the paragraph style of the initial paragraph in the document to the
style created in the previous step.
4. Save the document, and then reload it (File -> Reload).
5. Open the Style Inspector and, with the cursor placed in the paragraph whose
style was set to the paragraph style created in step 2, observe.
6. Open the paragraph style properties, ensure that the "General" tab is
active, and observe.
Expected behavior:
5. The section "Paragraph Direct Formatting" does not contain any entries.
6. The "Contains" section does not contain any entries.
Observed behavior:
5. The section "Paragraph Direct Formatting" contains an entry "Outline Level:
1" (or another level, depending on which paragraph style the custom style
inherits from).
6. The "Contains" section reads "List Style: (None) + 0", which implies that
the list style and outline level property of the paragraph style have been
explicitly set instead of being inherited from the parent style. I don't know
if the explicit setting of "List style" is completely unintended, because if
the paragraph style is not assigned to an outline level via Tools -> Heading
Numbering, the option "Heading Numbering" in the paragraph style properties
dialog is not really applicable to it. But then, this option should be greyed
out in the first place instead of being selectable and then secretly being
unset when saving the document. But multiple paragraph styles at the same
outline level do make sense, so unsetting the outline level as well is uncalled
for.
