Summary: FEATURE REQUEST: Nonlinear Warping of Vector Shapes in
Impress
Product: LibreOffice
Version: unspecified
Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: enhancement
Priority: medium
Component: Impress
Assignee: [email protected]

Description:
The feature request is a request for nonlinear warping of vector shapes in
Impress.
The use case is as follows. I use Impress for a lot of tasks requiring visual
purposes (free software!). So, I occasionally come across something that I need
to do but am unable to and have to spend a lot of time "faking" it. The most
prevalent of these is nonlinear transformation. Occasionally, I want to take a
shape and "multiply the vertical coordinate by the horizontal coordinate" - a
transform that maps a horizontal line to a diagonal one and a diagonal line to
a parabola. In other times, I want to apply a 4-point perspective modifier to
something. In both of these cases, I could do it as an image (and indeed I do)
but I'd prefer to have it as a vector transform because then the geometry is
editable, intersectible, et cetera.
If I had to boil the request down to one single one, it is this: I want the
ability to do a "quad" transform on a vector shape and get a vector shape out
of it. I think this would be much to the benefit of LibreOffice's capabilities.
I doubt anyone will ever read this, but if anyone does, and if the doubly low
chance that someone decides to actually implement this at some point ever comes
true, you have eternal gratitude. Thanks!
