My suggestion would just allow 1 window and user could toggle between current + previous tabs by using a hotkey. Still interested in this being available as a toggle between current and previous sheet hotkey, if anyone is interested in offering this. I agree that this function would be availble but left blank by default. User would get to decided to assign this as a shortcut or not.
