But I would ask what is the intent of those behind the direction of LibreOffice. It IS Libre OFFICE. Its primary competitor at this point is MS Office. One commenter mentioned moving to LO from WordPerfect (which 'fell from grace' thanks to the underhanded methods of Microsoft). But the point is - IS this intended to be a full competitor with a full featured OFFICE suite?? Or is it intended only to be an 'also ran'. Tables and table formatting are IMPORTANT IF it is intended to compete. Perhaps the problem stems from the development OF the tables feature. IF formatting is possible, it simply CANNOT 'fall apart' with row/column changes to the table. Perhaps Tables need to be re-thought from the beginning - rather than approached as a fix to what already exists. I reported MY encounter with the problem QUITE some time ago. I don't know when I first did so - years I would guess. LO is most certainly NOT a trivial body of code.
