--- Comment #2 from Eyal Rozenberg <[email protected]> --- (In reply to V Stuart Foote from comment #1) > And? And it shouldn't. > > There simply is *a lot* happening to parse the XML and build the > customization panels. 1. The might have been a valid excuse 20 years ago. 2. Maybe not even then, because when there really is that much work - you don't do it all before the dialog loads. You do part of it, enough to show the dialog, and continue doing it in the background, prioritizing what the user is trying to browser. > Only could be speeded up IFF Not Only If. > we move from flat XML to > more robust database held configuration schema, e.g. pickleDB, TinyDB or > even SQLite. That's a possible way to go. But - it doesn't have to be a move, it could a caching mechanism. Also - it's important to understand whether the problem is with parsing the XMLs, with forming the UI, or both. > But that would be a massive refactoring. Then perhaps some simpler caching perhaps, serializing whatever we use for the parse results. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.
