            Bug ID: 173799
           Summary: Multi-line formulas in cells
           Product: LibreOffice
           Version: unspecified
          Hardware: All
                OS: All
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: enhancement
          Priority: medium
         Component: Calc
          Assignee: [email protected]
          Reporter: [email protected]

Description:
I would like to suggest the possibility of inserting multi-line formulas with
local variables into cells of LibreOffice Calc. Something like:

   @
   var total_cost = sum( $d$7:$d$20 ) * $k$47;
   var discount_percent = (b6 + c6) / $b$4 ;
   = total_cost * discount

A completely arbitrary example, but one that illustrates the point.

The first line indicates a multi-line formula.

Lines 2 and 3 compute values for local variables using already known
functions and other variables defined in the block.

Line 4 returns the formula value.

This would make it easier to create, read and use complex formulas without
having to resort to VBA. Certainly, tokens like "var", "@" and ";" are just
examples.

That's it, just a suggestion.
Thank you.
