            Bug ID: 173840
Summary: BASIC Macro Editor: Undo and Redo buttons fail to work
after pasting or during sequential typing
           Product: LibreOffice
           Version: unspecified
          Hardware: All
                OS: All
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: medium
         Component: BASIC
          Assignee: [email protected]
          Reporter: [email protected]

Description:
In the LibreOffice BASIC Macro Editor, the Undo and Redo functionalities fail
to operate correctly under standard text editing conditions:

When pasting code or text into the editor, the Undo function is not triggered
(the Undo button remains greyed out and disabled).

When typing text sequentially, Undo works for the initial entry, but fails on
subsequent typing. Additionally, the Redo button remains highlighted (blue) but
becomes completely non-functional.

This issue presents a high risk of macro code loss, particularly when replacing
multiple code lines via paste operations, as users cannot revert unexpected
changes or mistakes.

Workaround: Users are advised to back up or copy their macros to an external
text file prior to editing until a fix is deployed.

Steps to Reproduce:
Scenario 1 (Pasting issue):
1. Open LibreOffice and launch the BASIC Macro Editor (Tools > Macros > Edit
Macros).

2. Paste any code or text snippet into the editor window.

3. Observe the Undo button on the toolbar.

Scenario 2 (Sequential typing & Undo issue):

1. Open the BASIC Macro Editor (Tools > Macros > Edit Macros).

2. Type a word or line of code.

3. Click the Undo button (it activates and works correctly).

4. Type a second word or line of code.

5. Attempt to perform an Undo action for the second typing entry.

Actual Results:
Scenario 1: The Undo button remains greyed out and inactive after pasting.
Reverting the paste operation is impossible.

Scenario 2: Undo fails to revert the second typing entry after the initial undo
and re-typing sequence. The Redo button stays blue/active but does nothing when
clicked.

Expected Results:
Scenario 1: Pasting text should immediately activate the Undo button, allowing
users to revert the pasted content.

Scenario 2: Undo and Redo should reliably track every consecutive edit,
allowing users to step backward and forward through their full editing history.

Reproducible: Always
