Bug ID: 173841
Summary: dictionaries for non-English languages not shown in
Impress Tools-Language
Product: LibreOffice
Version: 26.8.0.3 release
Hardware: All
OS: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: medium
Component: Impress
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
Description:
I am trying to spell-check an Impress (.odp) document containing Italian.
My main language is English, but I also have Italian dictionaries installed.
So I want to select Italian language for spellchecking italian text in the
document.
However, when I click on Tools→Language→For All Text, only english dictionaries
are listed. There is no option for selecting the italian dictionary.
The bug appears to be specifically in Impress. If instead I open a text
document (.odt), then the Italian dictionary is available in the list shown for
Tools→Language→For All Text.
Libreoffice Draw has the same bug as Impress: Tools→Language→For All Text for a
text box in an .odg document is also missing the non-english dictionary, same
as Impress.
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Ensure an italian dictionary is installed (extensions, or debian package
hunspell-it)
2. Open an Impress document (.odp)
3. Type the italian word 'colore'
4. Click on Tools→Language→For All Text
5. Inspect available dictionaries
Actual Results:
Only english dictionaries get listed in Tools→Language→For All Text (with
Impress or Draw)
Testing in Troubleshooting Mode (resetting user profile) is actually even
worse. The italian dictionary still does not appear in Impress, and also does
not appear in a text (odt) document. Even worse, a Catalan dictionary option
appears for text documents. I have not installed a catalan dictionary on this
system.
Expected Results:
All available (installed) dictionaries should be listed, including non-english
dictionaries
Reproducible: Always
User Profile Reset: Yes
Additional Info:
Testing libreoffice 26.8.0.3 on debian linux installed by debian packages (via
apt). Italian dictionaries are installed both via the debian package
hunspell-it and via extensions (Andrea Pescetti PLIO).
