Bug ID: 173847
Summary: Dynamic arrays; integration in calc funtions; eg. LEN
Product: LibreOffice
Version: 27.2.0.0 alpha0+ master
Hardware: All
OS: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: medium
Component: Calc
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
Description:
In the blog post
https://libreoffice-dev.blogspot.com/2026/09/libreoffice-calc-now-supports-general.html
there is a link to
https://exceljet.net/articles/dynamic-array-formulas-in-excel. This page
explains dynamic arrays.
The article mention LEGACY EXCEL and DYNAMIC EXCEL. In DYNAMIC EXCEL dynamic
arrays are deeply integrated. EG it is possible use LEN(RANGE) or
LEN(dynamicarray#). in the current devbuild 27.2 this is not possible.
Due to the calculation results between the different dynamic array
implementations in EXCEL and in CALC this could be a real interoperability
problem. Please find the attached ods 20261004-dynamicarray.ods for details
Steps to Reproduce:
1. create an ods
2. type words in at least to cells (eg a2 ="house"; a3="car")
3. type in cell b2 =len(a2:a3)
Actual Results:
B2=5
B3=""
Expected Results:
B2=5
B3=3
Reproducible: Always
User Profile Reset: Yes
Additional Info:
see attachement for better understanding see 20261004-dynamicarray.ods
