I'm not sure anymore what I saw in my comment 20, but now I can't reproduce the issue in 26.2, 26.8 or master. I *do* see the clear lagginess in 7.6, where every letter seems to claw its way into the document, but now I only see the periodic lags maybe every 2-3 seconds.
