            Bug ID: 173955
Summary: FEATURE REQUEST: When adding a border to an image,
allow user to set _external_ border padding
           Product: LibreOffice
           Version: 26.8.1.1 release
          Hardware: All
                OS: All
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: enhancement
          Priority: medium
         Component: Writer
          Assignee: [email protected]
          Reporter: [email protected]

Description:
Depending what image size and position the user desires, as Writer works now in
some situations when the user adds an image border there can be zero external
padding between a border line and the document's text. (I will attach a screen
shot after submitting the bug.)

When this happens, although it is possible to manipulate the image size or drag
the image so that a marginal amount of external padding results for all of the
adjacent text, this limits the user's compositional flexibility.

A solution would be to add four user-input fields to the Properties > Image
dialogue for setting external padding for all four sides of the image, between
the borders and text. This addition would complement the exist four fields for
internal padding between the borders and the image. (I will attach a mock up of
the modified dialogue, later.)

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Anchor an image to a paragraph and set its Wrap to Before and be sure its
placement is to the right margin, and scaled to have text to its left.

2. Right-click the image and click Properties. On the dialogue click the box
borders in the "Line Arrangement" area, and click OK.

3. If there is space between the left border line and the text to its left,
adjust click the image and adjust its size until you can no padding between
that text and the left border line. (This is just to illustrate the problem,
which can occur sometimes for the users already predetermined size for the
image.)

Actual Results:
There are times, depending on the image size and position, when there will be
zero external padding between a border line and adjacent text. Then, to provide
external padding, the user has to select a less desirable image size or
position.

Expected Results:
As written in the above Description section, if fields are added to the Image
dialogue for the user to specify external padding between the border lines and
the document's text, the user can get the desired clarity (due to adequate
external padding) for his or her optimal image size and position.

Reproducible: Always
