BogdanB <[email protected]> changed: What |Removed |Added ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- CC| |[email protected] | |g --- Comment #14 from BogdanB <[email protected]> --- Let's analize the initial bug report. A lot have changed until now, I kept just the relevant topics that are still available today in 27.2: "In the Navigator, the right-click menu for each bookmark already contains Bookmark > Delete and Bookmark > Rename. I'm not sure what the purpose of Bookmark > Edit is when executed from Navigator > Bookmarks." Response: there are 2 kinds of bookmarks depending how we introduce it (with the cursor in the text, or selecting a text and inserting a bookmark): cursor bookmark, and selection bookmark. For a selection bookmark, if we use GTK3 we have the posibility to edit 2 things: name, and content of the text. So, the edit is moving us to the dialog where we can change our initial selected bookmark text and change it, so the text in our paragraph will change. For not working on x11 is open bug 174270. [Bookmark dialog: Edit text is not working (working only on text selection bookmark and only on GTK3) See dependency tree for bug 174270 ] "From the Bookmark window: The button Rename is already on the Navigator > Bookmarks right-click menu. The button Delete is already on the Navigator > Bookmarks right-click menu." - maybe some users don't use sidebar, so they want to edit from the dialog. "The button Goto is achieved by double-clicking a specific bookmark." - Not all users notice that. "The button Insert, which is active, seems to just add another bookmark, but which one is not clear." - Before inserting a bookmark the cursor should be in the text, or a selections should be made, so it is inserting a bookmark in the location that was choosen, with the name that is proposed (or chould be changed) "In the Bookmark window nothing is highlighted/selected in the list." - If I go from navigator, the selected bookmark is selected in the dialog also - if I am starting from a document, it's normal nothing to be selected, I am inserting a new one "I selected a bookmark in the Navigator with a different page than was added when I clicked Insert. Last, I repositioned myself to a specific page in the document and clicked to establish the cursor position. I right-clicked a bookmark > Bookmark > Edit..., and it wasn't that page number either." - this is not very clear to me, if I insert a bookmark over a selection on page 1, and I move the selection on page 2, it's normal that the bookmark will move moe to the page 2 now. It's updating to the real position of my bookmark. It's not a bookmark to a page, it's a bookmark to a movable content. "Also, Rename should be "Rename...". It opens a dialog." - now this Rename is renaiming the bookmark inline without the need to open the dialog, but also the dialog Rename it's there for users not using Navigator, and also for those who edit a lot of bookmarks, one after another and they prefere the dialog, because we have a lot of options to sort them, by different columns. "Also, clicking the Insert button should not close the Bookmark window, no matter how it was invoked (Insert > Bookmark or Navigator > Bookmarks > abookmark > Bookmark > Edit.... A user may want to add/insert many bookmarks. It seems they would position cursor in the document and click Insert, position again someplace else, and click Insert again. But currently clicking the Insert button closes the window." - for this we have bug 136266: [INSERT BOOKMARK dialog: allow user to insert multiple bookmarks without closing the dialog] "If I hover over an object in the Navigator (i.e., Tables, Bookmarks), the "Extended Tips" will show how many there are. It would be helpful if the hover over a specific bookmark showed the Page number." - that is not implemented yet "In the lower left-hand corner, if you right-click the page numbers, the bookmark list appears. It would be helpful if the page number appeared in the list too (2-column list)." - this is not implemented yet I propose either to rename this bug report to something else, or to open 2 new bug reports. Jim could solve them if they are separate, but in a bug report with so many mentions, no one will look to implement part of the bug report. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.
