Open the attached document and press <Ctrl>+<Shift>+<F9>: this starts a
sequence to fill in all fields. Now edit text or choose another item and click
"Next" to get to the next field. In this case all fields in protected an
non-protected sections are updated. This sequence is automatically starting if
you generate a new doc by double-clicking an ott-template.

I only found this about sections:
https://help.libreoffice.org/Writer/Section
and this about fields/functions:
https://help.libreoffice.org/Writer/Functions

Another fact is: it doesn't make sense to insert an input field to a protected
section an you can't input any text. The protection in this case is to protect
the doc against changes in the layout and let users fill in text in fields. You
can also see this behavior on MS Word.

Kind regards
