I tested LibreOffice Writer 3.5.7, using the files submitted. The problem did not occur. The captions were fine. This problem has me stumped, because Linux Mint was running without any other problems before the re-installation. It could very well be that this is not a bug in LibreOffice Writer, but rather a compatibility issue with Linux Mint.
