Cells indicate #NAME?. I stumbled on work around - if macro edit window is opened so I am reading code code (making no code changes), and then spreadsheet cell formula is edited (no change to formula), when I press enter for the edited cell, then macro works. The cell edit will not update unless teh code editor is opened.
