Selecting the only table in the presentation was enough to crash Impress after a few seconds. On the other hand, not touching the table allowed working on the presentation without issues for as long as desired. I tried the suggested clean profile*, and I am here to report that I do not observe the bug anymore. I can select and modify the table of the above mentioned file without a glitch.
