With the actions that I make out of your description, I cannot reproduce the
problem (in a fresh document in 4.2.1.1 on Ubuntu..)

So questions:

Where to 'Tab' ?
How to change to 'unnumbered list' ?
(So where is my cursor expected to be as I 'Press enter and Shift Tab')
