It is the resource fork which should not have been added and the file properties which should not have been changed. Urmas, you are right: when I selected "Open other fork" in OxED, something must have gone wrong, and I didn't notice. However, that was an honest mistake, and I neither deserve nor respond positively to rudeness such as "do as you've been told". The actual resource fork is mostly nulls.
