I use the same build: 45a2874-aa8c38d-dff3b9c-def3dbd-62463c8 Ubuntu linux 11.10, Latvian locale If I try to select Icon from Gallery (Format Data series > Line) not from default symbols, I have 1 icon in the Gallery selection, another in preview area and simple line symbols in the chart after accepting changes. I think it is not possible at all to select the Gallery icons for data points in scatter chart. The same operations can be done easily in 3.3.4.
