To add to the mystery the user bought a new computer with the same version of Windows as mine, and LibreOffice worked out of the box. But to answer your question, yes it did. b) The Norwegian spellchecker was finally added to the OpenOffice.org codebase back in 2009 after much pressure, so it haven't been a problem since then. Anyway, as an final resort, I asked the user to run one of these registry cleaners.
