I have had problems with LibreOffice in the use of templates that have required
me to discontinue use of LibreOffice.
First of all, the templates contain an image which is a logo at the top of the
template. That image is seen when the template is opened, and is p[resent when
the document is printed, but when a saved copy of the document is opened, the
image is absent. This problem is for LibreOffice alone, it did not exist with
OpenOffice.
Second problem has to do with Fields. I have a field in the template for the
Created date. LibreOffice (and also OpenOffice before it) will properly
present the date in that field when the template is opened. However, when the
document is saved and then subsequently re-opened, the data in what was to be
the create date field has been changed to the Author's name.
The second problem I could deal with simply by manually typing in the current
date when the document was created, But the first problem is quite severe, and
has required me to drop the use of LibreOffice entirely and use MS Word for my
documents.
I had enjoyed several years of freedom from MS Office, but the recent upheaval
at Oracle with Open Office, and the creation of LibreOffice was encouraging at
the beginning, problems such as this make the purchase and use of MS Office
products a requirement.
Please let me know when these issues have been addressed so I can go back to
using (and recommending) LibreOffice.
