OK, so what was the source of the slides? Do not look to have been prepared in
LibreOffice, is this a PowerPoint presentation you've opened, or is it an
imported PDF?
In either case, if not prepared natively in Impress, each page/slide is being
filter imported into an Impress slide. In the course of that a preview image is
generated and used as the thumbnail view in the slide sorter.
Some filters do a bit better than others. So, need to know a few things about
how the document has been created, also would be helpful to know your OS, and
the release build details for your LibreOffice install (copy paste from Help ->
About LibreOffice).
