I don't consider this a bug anymore.
I see that current builds of MS Excel behave identical. In the meanwhile
LibreOffice has been improved so that it indicates (like MS Excel) "No Data".
So this doesn't confuse users anymore.
I have attached screen shots of Calc and Excel.
