In doing so you won't have the lockfile for local file, easily ending in trouble if working locally or with network mounted units sharing file. In case you need it, you will lose the Calc shared file feature as well. Microsoft Office applications do something different wrt LO when dealing with WebDAV mounted partition, see here: http://blogs.msdn.com/b/brian_jones/archive/2006/02/17/534142.aspx for a description.
