Bug #: 50108 Summary: Broken compatibility Classification: Unclassified Product: LibreOffice Version: LibO 3.5.2 Release Platform: All OS/Version: All Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: medium Component: Libreoffice AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org ReportedBy: ski...@alum.mit.edu I'm not sure where exactly to file this but a resent "fix" has significant repercussions for end users. My understanding is that the graphics render in 3.5 was changed to match ODF spec, which all sounds fine, except graphics generated in pre-3.5 were all perfect just not matching spec (I have files near 10 years old that are just fine). So fix was to "import" pre 3.5 files and convert them to match the ODF spec, this was fix in 3.5.2. This would all be fine in a world that everyone was forced to upgrade at the same time. The reality on the ground is that we have a broad mix of LO and OOo versions. This fix horribly breaks graphics for non-LO 3.5+ users. In my situation that means we have had to ban 3.5 from our company because change will impact users in multiple offices and partner IT departments many of which are running OOo and are not willing to change. It is also not clear that Apache will interpret spec the same way as well. Bottomline is that now we have situation where if I generate a file (say a presentation) in 3.5.2+ there is a good chance most of people I send that file to will see a jumbled mess! That is one sure fire way to have people loose confidence is a product. The bug I'm referring to is 47406.
