            Bug ID: 99682
Summary: Cannot maximize LO on small netbook screen
           Product: LibreOffice
           Version: 5.1.1.3 release
          Hardware: x86 (IA32)
                OS: Linux (All)
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: medium
         Component: UI
          Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
          Reporter: laserhaw...@gmail.com

I have a small netbook with a small screen (~2009 ASUS 1000HE with 1024x600
screen), which I like to use as a typewriter of sorts. My OS of choice is Puppy
Linux, specifically, a community-developed version (it's complicated) called
X-Tahr 1b3. X-Tahr is Puppy with XFCE, and X-Tahr is Ubuntu Trusty Tahr
compatible Puppy (X-Tahr 1b3 is based on TahrPup 6.0.2).

X-Tahr can be had here (support thread with links to download in first post)
--> http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=99849

I'm using LibreOffice 5.1.1.3, although this issue was also present in 5.0.4 --
I upgraded LO in an attempt to fix the issue, and that did not work. My version
of LibreOffice is packaged as a SquashFS file by Puppy user "Puppus Dogfellow",
which (at least within Puppy) allows for a modular load/unload scheme, rather
than permanently installing the software. (Puppy is a little different!) I've
not had issues with LO until now, and --from what I recall-- the 4xx series
LibreOffices did not have this issue at all.

The issue is that I cannot properly 'maximize' LO. It fills the screen, so that
I can sort of see the status bar and about half of the lowest line of text
through my taskbar (translucent). Maybe I'm a perfectionist, but I find that
positively infuriating. Clicking on the 'maximize' button on the title bar
doesn't work; in fact, LO seems to think that it /is/ mazimized, because that
button shows one window box (as if maximized), rather than two window boxes one
on top of the other (not maximized). I can move it around the screen fine, but
I can't shrink it vertically. I can grow and shrink it horizontally, and I can
grow it vertically, but that's all. Changing the window size does not fix the
problem, or enable it to be fixed, either.

Please don't tell me to upgrade my system, as this is not a hardware problem.
(Being a 'hardware guy', I don't get to say that too often!) That would also
necessarily miss the point -- I want LO to work on my system, not someone
else's...

Also, while I can compile to a limited extent (given explain-like-I'm-five
instructions, I can compile a graphics driver, and I did exactly that several
hundred times, over about six months, with the OpenChrome project) --
LibreOffice is a little, er, large for me to feel comfortable compiling it from
scratch. That's a little like going from an Estes rocket to something on the
order of getting a Progress craft to the ISS, at least to me... I'm just not
equipped for that, yet.

All of that said, please send halp.
