file does not exist bogus error message

This bug is similar – BUT NOT THE SAME – as Bug 40244.

I had just deleted everything from an old drive partition as part of a clean up
project. Wanted to put a file in that partition as a message that clean up had
been done.

Attempted to write that file [1] to hard drive formatted with ext4.
Got error message [2].
Discovered that the directory was owned by “root”. Of course, the file was
being edited by “user”.

Error Message [2] is therefore bogus. Should read like [3], [4] or [5].

This is LibreOffice as packaged with Mint Linux 18.
It reports itself as:
Version: 5.1.4.2
Build ID: 1:5.1.4-0ubuntu1
CPU Threads: 4; OS Version: Linux 4.4; UI Render: default;
Locale: en-US (en_US.UTF-8)

[1] ‘Was Old Boot Drive – 100Gb Drive - IGNORE ME.odt’
[2] "Error saving the document <document name>: <path>/<document name> does not
exist".
[3] "Error saving the document ….. User cannot write to directory owned by
root"
[4] "Error saving the document ….. you are not directory owner"
[5] "Error saving the document ….. "insufficient permissions"

See attached picture.
