Possibly due to the non-writable storage nature of a DMG ? The image file is
write-protected by default, if I've understood correctly, whereas the app
installed on the hard disk is free to attempt to allocate memory segments in
places as it sees fit. It would appear that Sierra no longer seems to allow
such behaviour, hence the malloc segfaults ?
