Funny observation, when I start "soffice" from the command-line, it starts up
normally. Perhaps that's what I did earlier when I sad it started to work.
Starting it from the Dock or Finder makes it crash reliably.
This works:
$ /Applications/LibreOffice.app/Contents/MacOS/soffice
