Bug ID: 103930
Summary: UI: Add connector button to drawing toolbar in LO
Writer
Product: LibreOffice
Version: 5.2.3.3 release
Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: enhancement
Priority: medium
Component: Writer
Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
Reporter: diazbast...@openmailbox.org
Description:
A friend, new LO user pointed to me that Writer doesn't have a way to insert a
connector to create flowcharts or other graphical representation that requires
this function.
In my particular case, I usually use LO Draw to do any kind of diagram and then
import it into LO Writer, however, having different workflows is important for
casual users for different reasons.
• Writer introduces basic drawing tools, including shapes for flowcharts. This
is incomplete without adding connectors [1]
• Other popular word processors include connectors
• Casual users only use a word processor for this work
• A casual user may not install LO Draw
I really don't know if this is a design decision, but in spite of not being
directly affected, it can be seen as a bug to use another application in the
same office suit (Impress or Draw) to only add connectors to drawing objects.
[1] An alternative workflow can be seen in GDrive, since in order to insert any
type of drawing, a new window opens with Google Draw instead of offering
drawing tools in its corresponding Word Processor.
