So it has been indeed working for some time.
But then the bug happened again. I think in November 2016.
(I'm still on a Debian stable)

So I'm currently using the WORKAROUND:
Add this to .profile
export SAL_DISABLE_SYNCHRONOUS_PRINTER_DETECTION="true".
I'll now try to see if this workaround can be disabled...
(So for me, this bug wasn't dead for a year)
