            Bug ID: 106668
Summary: Unable to apply "Styles & Formatting" to Single Words.
           Product: LibreOffice
           Version: 5.3.2.1 rc
          Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
                OS: Linux (All)
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: medium
         Component: Writer
          Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
          Reporter: vermontp...@gmail.com

Description:
Attempting to apply a "Superscript" Style to a single highlighted word doesn't
work as described in Libre Office's help manual:

"Select the text. To apply a Character Style to one word, click the word. "

>From here:

https://help.libreoffice.org/Writer/Styles_and_Formatting

For example, if in this paragraph I add a note (1), and want to apply a
superscript style to (1), Libre will apply the style to (1) and the word "note"
and random other words in the paragraph. It will also change the style of the
entire paragraph without necessarily changing its appearance. Instead of being
the "default" style, the style for the paragraph will be "superscript" even
though only one or two words have been affected.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Write a paragraph in the default style.
2. Apply a different style to any given and highlighted word within that
paragraph and the entire paragraph will be changed.

Actual Results:
Entire paragraph assumes the new style even if the word (as in the Help manual)
is "clicked" or highlighted.

Expected Results:
Style is only applied to highlighted word.

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

Additional Info:
If this is normal behavior. In other words, if it's not possible to apply
styles to individual words or letters within a paragraph, then please revise
your Help manual.
