More info/background:
- I received a DOC file which contained fields I needed to edit.
- The empty table sections displayed a grayed spaces at beginning.
- All text I entered displays the grayed highlight.
- I exhausted all options reformatting to eliminate the gray highlight.
- I discovered editing original document using web based Microsoft Word allowed
me to delete the gray highlight/attribute, so that subsequent editing by
LibreOffice wasn't showing the gray highlight.
- example DOC included, you can type in box to see gray highlight.
- the expected behavior, LibreOffice should simply be able to backspace over
grayed spaces, and they should get deleted.  Now, the gray area remains.
