I see the issue, was kind of torn... but stay with status quo: if hiding text
with the font effect, it should by default be hidden on canvas.
But to help the Benjamin user to keep from "losing" text, as with Cor in
comment 4, I think rather than by default enabling the "Display of" check-box
for "Hidden text", there should be some note on the "Character" dialog that
visibility of "Hidden" check-box is controlled by Writer's Formatting Aids.
