I tried various ways in hitTestRunner() to figure out if the recursion is going to be infinite, but without success. Of course, I have no clue what this code actually is doing... but clearly in some way it thinks that it is recursing down into children but in fact it isn't, it's all the time staying at the same "level". Or something.
