Your computer specs are fine and don't explain a 5 minute freeze. Clean install
means you do not have a long custom autocorrect list so it can't be that
either. I'm out of ideas. Getting a callgrind trace might be enlightening, but
unfortunately Arch Linux still does not ship debug packages (I hear they are
nearly ready, though).
