I just tested this with LO 6.1.2.1 and it actually appears to be implemented!
After scanning through 6.1's changelog, it appears to have been implemented
here:

And it was further fixed with bug 119556 to actually sync the two checkboxes.
I've been out of the QA game for a while now, but unless I'm missing something,
this can be closed as resolved:fixed.
