--- Comment #10 from Marc Pare <[email protected]> --- Thanks for all of these mockups. IMO, we could already implement some of your suggestions. However, the suggestions touch a lot on the philophy behind the downsload area, is it for user use only or for developer. This is where we are still at a point where the debate is still ongoing. IMO, the download page is a very busy area, and, I am sure that, if we were to look at the metrics, the majority of people who use this pages are users. So, by that, I would say that the download page should be directed towards the use of "users". I agree also that the developer sections on the download page could easily be moved to the dev section of the site, and also agree, that any dedicated dev would/could find the location to download any files necessary for her/his work. So, if we were to do this, we could easily include all of the 2 columns below the download button that you show on mockup #1. As for the extra buttons, I do not agree to this for the main site. I believe that we should only have one button, but, as you say, it is not clear. Perhaps instead we should have the download button, with 3 distinct links -- there is enough space to do the following: Main Installer -- 180 MB (LibreOffice Server / Bit Torrent / Other LibreOffice Servers / LibreOffice built-in help -- 9 MB (LibreOffice Server / Bit Torrent / Other LibreOffice Servers / Along with the suggestions of your first mockup, this would work well and perhaps lead to fewer mis-guided downloads. The most important of all of this, is that we could implement this right now, without delay. ================== As for the nl download pages, I agree, there may be a need for a 2-button system if the nl-teams find confusion over the latest version and the supported version. I especially like the way the FR team does their download page http://fr.libreoffice.org/telecharger/ The information is all there on the page, especially information on the use of Java (which hopefully will disappear when we completely obsolete the use of java with our suite). Cheers, Marc -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.
