As indicated in earlier posted comments to this bug report, the text tearing
issue seems to be an issue when the zoom factor is greater than 100%; e.g.,
when you choose the “Fit width” option (with no sidebars, that’s 156%).
However, I think I discovered something very interesting, which is that if the
zoom factor is larger than that (in the Normal View), large enough so the right
side of the page is off-screen (which is to say to the point the horizontal
scroll bar appears), it does NOT appear to exhibit the text tearing!? Not only
that, but there is not the tell-tale sign of the lines of text slightly
readjusting their height when selecting Toggle Automatic Spell Checking (Shift
+ F7), which always puzzled me because I see no reason for the text height to
be changing. Also, if you select Web View, it does NOT appear to exhibit the
text tearing (or height shifting) either!? I suspect this could be a truly
significant clue to the origins of the issue.
