I would be happy for any solution that let my not-so-young-anymore eyes read the interface/menubar easily. That could be a small-medium-large text size preference, or even just a fixed size if it was as large and contrasty as other apps are, i.e. 7px black-on-white instead of 5px black-on-grey.
