--- Comment #20 from Karlheinz Lorenz <loren...@t-online.de> --- Problem description: Same observations with LO 3.6.4, 3.6.5 and 4.0release often reproduced in the last weeks and months! I tested several times on different machines and under Windows7-Ulimate-32bit, Windows7-prof-64bit and Windows XP SP3 with equivalent results. So I confirm all above bug reports. Steps to reproduce: 1. Install current LO. 2. Create new Document, for example .odt with a specific term. 3. Search for that term with Windows Search. You will not find your new document. If there was a prvious installation of OO or LO 3.5. or older, you might see some older odt-documents in search results. 4. Rebuild index. You will not find any more .odt-Documents at all in search results. 5. Create new .odt-document(s) and observe indexing options. You can observe, that the number of indexed elments is increased, but you will not find any terms from within these documents. Current behavior: Obviously searchfilters are installed and registered correctly, but when indexing contents are not determined correctly. Expected behavior: Normal behavior of Windows Search includung content of Open-Document files... Workaround: Just save the dlls of 3.5.7's folder ..program\shlxthdl\ (or extract them from the installation file) and replace the correspondent dlls of 3.6 or 4.0 and rebuild serch index. Research: Unfortunately I am not a skilled Windows-Programmer nor is it easy to get specific information about the functioning of Windows search. Just found http://msdn.microsoft.com/En-US/library/bb266532.aspx and http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/search_filter_view.html helpful. But after all I came to the conclusion that installation and registration of all filters are correct both for 32bit and 64bit-installations. Looking in the sources and comparing 3.5.7 with actual versions there are only slight differences in the source codes of the filter-dlls, but there is a completely new structure of the makefiles. It might be worth to study this, but I have not enough background, sorry. But no matter what: It is hard to understand, why this bug is not recognised by more people and not taken care of after months!
