I would suggest testing it in Writer or similar, under different conditions, enough times in order to trigger this "random" behavior. Is this happening only in Calc? Not even in Writer? When it happens, is it when building a formula for the first time? Or when editing too? Does it happen when pressing the keys in some empty cell (as when entering simple text, without the formula bar nor using "=")?
